Overview
Spectacle connects to Typeform in about 5 minutes and ties every form submission to the marketing touchpoints that led to it. Typeform counts responses and tells you where people dropped off inside the form. Spectacle records everything in front of the form — the ad click, the pages, the return visits — and reports cost per submission by channel, campaign, and keyword.
At a glance
- Category: Forms
- Setup time: About 5 minutes
- Authentication: OAuth, authorised from your Typeform account
- Typeform plan: All Typeform plans

- Sync: Real time
- Requires: The Spectacle JavaScript Sdk or Google Tag Manager (web) installed on your site. For server-side Google Tag Manager, talk to support
- Embeds: Standard, popup, slider, and popover all work

The gap in Typeform's own reporting
Typeform's analytics are about the form. Views, starts, completion rate, drop-off per question, time to complete — all useful, and all bounded by the form itself. Nothing in it knows what happened before someone opened the first question.
Hidden fields are the usual workaround: pass utm parameters into the form and read them back out. They capture the last link the respondent clicked and nothing else, so a prospect who arrived on a paid ad in March and completed the form from a bookmark in May submits with empty hidden fields, or with the wrong campaign in them. And a form embedded in a popup that opens on a page the person reached three clicks in has no url parameters left to read.
Spectacle sits underneath: the tracking snippet already on your site sees every visit, the Typeform connection receives every submission, and the two meet on one journey.
What syncs
- Typeform: Form Submitted: A conversion event on the journey, raised when a visitor completes and submits a form
- Both capture paths: Pixel tracking detects embedded submissions in the browser immediately; webhook tracking receives the same submission from Typeform's servers with the email and response data. Together they cover ad blockers and submissions made outside a browser session
- Every embed type: Standard, popup, slider, and popover embeds are all detected, with no per-form configuration and no hidden fields to maintain
- Respondent identity: The email on the response identifies the visitor, so the respondent is a known contact from that moment and later Crm or payment events land on the same journey
The setup steps and the installation prerequisites live in the Typeform docs. This page summarizes; Docs is the source of truth.
What you get
- Cost per submission by channel, campaign, and keyword. Ad spend from Google, LinkedIn, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, and OpenAI joined to actual form submissions, so the campaign that fills the form is separated from the one that fills the top of the funnel.
- The whole journey in front of every response. Every visit, ad click, and page before the submission, on one timeline, over a journey window you set to match your sales cycle.
- Attribution without hidden fields. No utm parameters to thread into each form, nothing to re-do when a form is duplicated, and popups and sliders are covered like any other embed.
- Submissions that survive the ad blocker. The webhook path catches what the browser path misses, so the count in Spectacle is not quietly lower than the count in Typeform.
- Submissions back to the ad platforms. Send Form Submitted as a conversion to Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, and OpenAI so bidding optimises for completed forms rather than for landing-page views.
Pairs with
Typeform + Google Ads (submissions as conversions) · Typeform + HubSpot or Pipedrive for what happens after the form · Typeform + Calendly for prospects who book instead of filling in
- Check the tag is installed. The Spectacle JavaScript Sdk or Google Tag Manager (web) has to be running on the pages your forms are embedded in. For server-side Google Tag Manager, talk to support first.
- Connect Typeform. Settings → Integrations → Typeform → Connect, sign in to Typeform, and authorise Spectacle. No hidden fields to add and no per-form setup.
- Submissions land on journeys. Each submission is captured in the browser and again over the webhook, attached to the visitor's journey with every campaign, ad, and page that preceded it, and the respondent's email identifies them from that point on.
